So, what is stearalkonium chloride?
Stearalkonium chloride is a white, waxy substance commonly used as a conditioning agent in hair care products. It has excellent anti-static and detangling properties, which makes it ideal for use in shampoos, conditioners, and hair masks. Stearalkonium chloride is also used as a softening agent in fabric softeners and as an emulsifier in cosmetic products. Although it has been deemed safe for use in cosmetics and personal care products, stearalkonium chloride is still a controversial ingredient due to its potential to cause irritation in some individuals.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
