So, what is tartrate de potassium?
Potassium tartrate, also known as cream of tartar, is a white crystalline powder with a slightly acidic taste. It is commonly used as a stabilizing agent in baking powder and is a popular ingredient in recipes for meringues, soufflés, and angel food cakes. It can also be used to prevent sugar from crystallizing in recipes such as syrups and candies. In addition to its culinary uses, potassium tartrate has also been used in traditional medicine as a laxative and diuretic, and as a component in some cosmetic products.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
