So, what is tartrazyna?
Tartrazine is a synthetic lemon-yellow azo dye commonly used as a food coloring. It is derived from coal tar and has been approved for use in many countries, including the United States, where it is designated as FD&C Yellow 5. Despite its widespread use, some studies have linked it to allergic reactions and hyperactivity in children. Due to these concerns, some manufacturers have switched to using natural food colorings, but tartrazine can still be found in many processed foods, such as candies, baked goods, and beverages.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
