So, what is tetramine?
Tetramine is a versatile food ingredient widely used for its emulsifying, stabilizing, and thickening properties. It is a synthetic compound composed of four molecules of ethylene diamine and one molecule of adipic acid. Tetramine forms a gel-like consistency when mixed with water, making it an ideal ingredient in many processed foods, including sauces, dressings, and dips. It is also commonly used in the production of confectionery and baked goods to enhance texture and improve shelf life. Despite being a synthetic compound, tetramine is considered safe for consumption by regulatory bodies worldwide.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
