So, what is thiodipropionic acid?
Thiodipropionic acid is a food ingredient commonly used as a preservative to extend the shelf life of various food products. It is a white crystalline powder with a faint odor and a slightly acidic taste. The acid contains two carboxylic acid groups and a sulfur atom in its chemical structure, which makes it effective against microbial growth. It is often added to oils, fats, and baked goods, as well as animal feed, to prevent spoilage and rancidity. While generally recognized as safe by regulatory authorities, excessive consumption can lead to adverse effects such as stomach upset and diarrhea.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
