So, what is thymus vulgaris?

Thymus vulgaris is the scientific Latin name for common thyme, a perennial aromatic herb in the mint family. Native to southern Europe and the Mediterranean region, it is cultivated worldwide for culinary and aromatic applications. When listed on ingredient labels, it typically refers to the whole dried leaves, ground herb, or an essential oil extracted from the plant through steam distillation. It is widely used as a seasoning in soups, sauces, marinades, prepared savory meals, and spice blends, and also appears in herbal teas and natural flavorings.

Thymus vulgaris is classified as vegan because it is entirely of botanical origin. From cultivation and harvesting to drying or essential oil distillation, its production involves no animal sources, byproducts, or animal-derived processing aids. Because it is exclusively a plant product, it complies fully with vegan standards.
