So, what is y tbhq?
Y TBHQ, also known as tertiary butylhydroquinone, is a synthetic antioxidant commonly used in the food industry to preserve the freshness and extend the shelf life of processed foods. It is a white crystalline powder that is added to oils, fats, and other high-fat foods to prevent them from becoming rancid. While it is generally recognized as safe by the FDA, some studies have linked TBHQ to potential health concerns such as an increased risk of cancer and neurological problems. Despite these concerns, Y TBHQ remains a widely used food additive due to its effectiveness and low cost.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
