Acid brilliant green BS is a synthetic organic compound that is commonly used as a food colorant. It imparts a bright green hue to various food products such as beverages, candies, baked goods, and confectionery items. Acid brilliant green BS is also known as Food Green 3 or C.I. 42040 and is approved by several regulatory bodies worldwide, including the FDA in the United States. Despite its widespread use, some concerns have been raised regarding the safety of acid brilliant green BS, particularly its potential carcinogenic properties. As such, it is recommended to consume this food ingredient in moderation.
