So, what is anchovis?

Anchovies are small, oily fish that belong to the Engraulidae family. They are commonly used as a flavoring ingredient in Mediterranean and Southeast Asian cuisines, adding a strong, salty, and umami-packed taste to dishes. Anchovies can be found in different forms: whole, filleted, salted, or canned in oil. They are versatile and can be used in various recipes, including Caesar salad dressing, tapenade, pizza toppings, and pasta sauces. Despite their small size, anchovies are packed with nutrition, such as omega-3 fatty acids, protein, and calcium, making them a great addition to a healthy diet.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like anchovis?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
