So, what is non-hydrogenated vegetal fats?
Non-hydrogenated vegetal fats are plant-based fats that have not undergone hydrogenation, a process used to make liquid oils more solid and stable at room temperature. Unlike their hydrogenated counterparts, non-hydrogenated vegetal fats are free from harmful trans fats and contain healthy mono- and polyunsaturated fatty acids that may help lower bad cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease. They are commonly used in food products such as margarine, baked goods, and confectionery as a healthier alternative to hydrogenated oils. Non-hydrogenated vegetal fats also have a neutral taste and can enhance the texture and mouthfeel of food products.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
