So, what is oignon frais?
Oignon frais, also known as fresh onion, is a versatile ingredient that adds a pungent, sweet and slightly spicy flavor to dishes. This bulbous vegetable is a member of the Allium family and has a papery outer layer that encases a crisp white flesh. Oignon frais can be eaten raw or cooked and is often used to enhance the taste of salads, soups, stews, and curries. It is also an excellent source of fiber, vitamin C, and antioxidants. When selecting oignon frais, look for firm bulbs with dry skins and avoid any that are soft or have moldy spots.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
