So, what is sodiúm phosphates?
Sodium phosphates are a class of food ingredients commonly used in the food industry as a pH buffer, emulsifier, thickening agent, and as a leavening agent in baked goods. They are also used as a preservative to increase the shelf life of processed foods. Sodium phosphates are a combination of sodium and phosphoric acid, and are generally recognized as safe by the FDA. While they are widely used, excessive consumption of sodium phosphates has been linked to health concerns such as kidney damage, so it is important to consume them in moderation.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
