So, what is zitronengras?
Zitronengras, also known as lemongrass, is a fragrant and versatile ingredient used in many Southeast Asian cuisines. It has long, slender blades with a pale green color, and a fresh, lemony scent. Zitronengras adds a tangy, citrusy flavor to dishes such as curries, soups, and stir-fries, as well as desserts and drinks. It's also used in traditional medicine for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Zitronengras can be found fresh, dried, or powdered in many grocery stores, and is easy to prepare by slicing or pounding to release its aromatic oils.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
