So, what is a sorbic acid?
Sorbic acid is a naturally occurring, colorless, and crystalline organic compound with a slightly sour taste. It is a common food preservative, which is used to prevent the growth of molds, yeasts, and fungi in various food products. Sorbic acid is commonly found in cheese, dried fruits, wine, and baked goods. It is also used in cosmetic and personal care products, such as lotions and creams, to prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi. Despite being a safe and effective preservative, high concentrations of sorbic acid can cause skin irritation or allergic reactions in some individuals.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
