So, what is aluminium sulfate?
Aluminium sulfate, also known as alum, is a white crystalline compound with a slightly sweet and astringent taste. It is commonly used as a food additive for its ability to adjust the pH balance of certain ingredients and act as a stabilizer for baked goods. It can also be found in pickling solutions and used in the production of some cheeses. However, excessive consumption of aluminium sulfate has been linked to health issues such as kidney damage, so it is important to use it in moderation.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
