So, what is ammonium oleate?
Ammonium oleate is a salt derived from the reaction of oleic acid, a monounsaturated fatty acid found in various plant and animal sources, with ammonium hydroxide. It is commonly used as a surfactant and emulsifying agent in the production of soaps, detergents, and personal care products. Ammonium oleate is also used as a chemical intermediate in the synthesis of other oleic acid derivatives, including lubricants, plastics, and pharmaceuticals. It has a yellowish appearance and is soluble in water, ethanol, and other polar solvents. Ammonium oleate is known for its mildness, making it a popular ingredient in cosmetic and personal care formulations.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
