So, what is askorbinsyre?
Ascorbic acid, also known as "askorbinsyre" in Danish, is a water-soluble vitamin that acts as an essential antioxidant in the human body. Found naturally in many fruits and vegetables, it plays a vital role in collagen production, wound healing, and immune system function. Ascorbic acid is commonly used as a food additive to prevent oxidation and extend shelf life. It is also prevalent in dietary supplements and fortified foods. While generally safe, excessive consumption of ascorbic acid can cause digestive discomfort, particularly in those with underlying health conditions.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
