So, what is beef suet?
Beef suet is a hard, white fat sourced from the kidney area of cattle. It has a high melting point and gives dishes a rich, savory flavor and a moist texture. Commonly used in traditional British recipes like Christmas pudding, mincemeat pies, and suet crust pastry, it can also be used as a cooking fat for frying or roasting. Because of its high saturated fat content, beef suet is best consumed in moderation. However, its unique flavor and versatility make it a popular choice for adding richness and depth to many dishes.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
