So, what is berberecho?
Berberecho is a Spanish term for the common cockle, a small edible bivalve found in sandy and muddy shores. With a distinctive elongated oval shape and a ribbed, slightly curved shell, these shellfish are commonly enjoyed in Spain as a delicacy. Berberechos have a briny, sweet taste that pairs well with lemon juice or vinegar, making them a popular ingredient in seafood dishes like paella or spaghetti alle vongole. They also contain high levels of protein, iron, and omega-3 fatty acids, making them a nutritious addition to any diet.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
