So, what is camellia sinensis seed oil?

Camellia sinensis seed oil is an edible vegetable oil obtained from the seeds of Camellia sinensis, which is the botanical Latin name for the common tea plant. The oil is produced by harvesting mature tea seeds, cleaning and drying them, and then extracting the oil through mechanical cold-pressing or solvent extraction methods. After extraction, the raw oil is usually filtered and refined. In the food sector, it is found in specialty culinary oils, salad dressings, baked goods, and dietary supplements, as well as in various personal care formulations.

This ingredient is classified as vegan because it is derived exclusively from a botanical source. The processing of tea seeds into finished oil relies purely on mechanical and chemical extraction procedures that do not involve animal tissues, animal byproducts, or animal-derived processing aids. Because no animal sources are utilized at any stage of its cultivation or manufacturing, camellia sinensis seed oil is fully compliant with a vegan diet.
