So, what is ceresin?
Ceresin is a waxy, odorless substance derived from mineral sources such as ozokerite or paraffin. It's commonly used in the food industry as a glazing agent to enhance the appearance and prolong the shelf life of confectionery products like chocolates, candies, and chewing gum. Ceresin is also used in pharmaceuticals as a coating for pills and tablets to prevent them from sticking together. While it's generally regarded as safe for consumption, some people may experience allergic reactions or digestive issues when ingesting large amounts of ceresin.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
