So, what is crospovidone?
Crospovidone is a synthetic, water-soluble polymer that is commonly used in the food industry as a disintegrant, which helps to break down tablets and capsules when they are ingested. It is a highly cross-linked polymer of N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone that is manufactured through a process of thermal processing and crosslinking. Crospovidone has excellent swelling and water absorption properties, which make it an ideal ingredient for use in food products that need to quickly dissolve or disintegrate in the digestive tract. It is widely used in the production of instant drink mixes, chewable tablets, and other food and pharmaceutical products. Crospovidone is safe for human consumption and has been approved by the FDA as a food additive.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
