So, what is cultured dairy?

Cultured dairy products are made by introducing beneficial bacteria to milk or cream, which then ferment the lactose and convert it into lactic acid. This process imparts a tangy flavor and thick texture to the resulting product, which can range from yogurt and sour cream to crème fraîche and kefir. Culturing also increases the shelf life of dairy products and can improve digestibility for those with lactose intolerance. The inclusion of live and active cultures in cultured dairy provides additional health benefits, such as promoting gut health and boosting the immune system.

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".
