So, what is durum semolina?
Durum semolina is a coarse flour made from the hard, dried kernels of durum wheat. It is commonly used to make pasta and couscous, as well as bread and pizza dough. Durum semolina is high in protein and gluten, which gives it its signature texture and chewiness when cooked. It has a rich, nutty flavor and a distinctive yellow color, which comes from the natural pigment in the wheat. With its versatility and hearty flavor, durum semolina is a staple ingredient in many Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisines.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
