So, what is e307c?

E307c is the European food additive code for gamma-tocopherol, an isomer of vitamin E commonly utilized as an antioxidant. It is extracted commercially from edible vegetable oils, such as soybean, corn, or sunflower oil, using physical refining and vacuum distillation techniques. It can also be manufactured via synthetic chemical processes from petrochemical precursors. Food producers add gamma-tocopherol to extend shelf life by preventing the oxidation of fats and oils. It appears frequently in products such as margarines, salad dressings, cooking oils, fried snacks, and commercial baked goods.

E307c is vegan because commercial gamma-tocopherol is sourced entirely from botanical or synthetic origins. No animal-derived materials, tissues, or by-products are utilized in the extraction, chemical synthesis, or processing of this additive. Because it involves neither animal harvest nor animal-based processing aids, E307c is fully compatible with a vegan diet.
