So, what is ethylene distearamide?
Ethylene distearamide, also known as EDAS, is a synthetic wax-like substance commonly used in the food industry as a release agent, emulsifier, and anti-foaming agent. It is a non-toxic and non-irritant ingredient that is derived from stearic acid, a saturated fatty acid found in animal and vegetable fats. EDAS is highly effective in preventing sticking and caking in food products, as well as improving their texture and consistency. It is commonly used in the production of baked goods, confectionery, and processed foods. Due to its versatility and safety, EDAS is widely recognized as a valuable food ingredient.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
