So, what is ethyl stearate?
Ethyl stearate is a fatty acid ester that is commonly used as a food ingredient and flavoring agent. It is a clear, colorless liquid that is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents. Ethyl stearate has a slightly sweet, waxy aroma and is often used to add a buttery or creamy flavor to foods, such as baked goods, confectionery, and dairy products. It is also used as a solvent and emulsifier in the production of cosmetics and personal care products. Despite its widespread use, ethyl stearate is generally considered safe for consumption by regulatory authorities.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
