So, what is gombo?
Gombo, also known as okra or lady's fingers, is a versatile and nutritious vegetable commonly found in African, Middle Eastern, and Southern American cuisine. Its long, slender pods are typically harvested when they are young and tender, before they become tough and woody. Gombo is low in calories but high in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, making it an excellent choice for a healthy diet. It can be eaten raw or cooked, and is often used as a thickener in soups, stews, and gumbo. Gombo has a unique, slightly slimy texture and a delicate, grassy flavor that pairs well with a variety of seasonings and spices.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
