So, what is gomme tara?
Gomme tara is a natural, plant-based food ingredient commonly used as a thickening agent in a variety of culinary applications. Extracted from the seeds of the Caesalpinia spinosa tree, which is native to South America, gomme tara is prized for its high viscosity and stability, making it an ideal ingredient for a wide range of products including soups, sauces, dressings, and desserts. It is also known for its ability to enhance texture and mouthfeel, giving food products a smooth, creamy consistency. Gomme tara is vegan, gluten-free, and a popular alternative to other thickeners like xanthan gum and guar gum.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
