So, what is graisse?
Graisse is a French term used to describe animal fat, specifically the white, semi-solid fat found in the tissue and around the organs of mammals. This ingredient is commonly used in cooking to add flavor, texture, and moisture to dishes. It can also be used as a cooking medium and for frying foods. Although often criticized for its high calorie and cholesterol content, graisse has been a staple ingredient in French cuisine for centuries and continues to be valued for its unique properties and contribution to the taste and texture of many classic dishes.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
