So, what is hop?
Hops are a perennial climbing plant that belongs to the Cannabaceae family. It is mostly grown for its cone-shaped flowers, which are used in brewing beer. Hops impart a bitter flavor and aroma to beer, which balances the sweetness of the malt. The flowers contain compounds called alpha acids, which act as natural preservatives and provide the characteristic bitterness to beer. Hops also contain essential oils, which contribute to the flavor and aroma of beer. In addition to its use in brewing, hops have been used for medicinal purposes for centuries, as they contain compounds that have anti-inflammatory and calming effects.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
