So, what is komijnzaden?

Komijnzaden, also known as cumin seeds, are small, oblong seeds that come from the flowering plant Cuminum cyminum. This aromatic spice has a warm and slightly bitter flavor with a hint of citrus and is commonly used in Middle Eastern, Indian, and Mexican cuisine. It's often roasted or ground before being added to dishes like curries, chili, soups, and stews, where it imparts a distinctive earthy flavor and aroma. In addition to its culinary uses, komijnzaden have been traditionally used for their medicinal properties, such as aiding digestion, relieving inflammation, and boosting the immune system.
