So, what is lactuca sativa?
Lactuca sativa, commonly known as lettuce, is a leafy green vegetable with a crisp texture and a mild, refreshing taste. It belongs to the daisy family, Asteraceae, and is cultivated worldwide for its edible leaves. Lettuce is low in calories and a good source of vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin C, folate, and potassium. It comes in a variety of colors and shapes, including green leaf, red leaf, romaine, butterhead, and iceberg. Lettuce can be eaten raw in salads or sandwiches, or cooked in soups, stews, and stir-fries.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
