So, what is liebstöckelwurzel?
Liebstöckelwurzel, also known as lovage root, is a flavorful and aromatic ingredient commonly used in European cuisine. The root, which is brown and gnarled in appearance, has a pungent and slightly sweet taste reminiscent of celery and parsley. Its unique flavor makes it a popular addition to soups, stews, and sauces, and it is often used to season meat and vegetable dishes. Liebstöckelwurzel is also believed to have medicinal properties, and has been used for centuries to aid digestion and relieve stomach ailments. Despite its popularity in traditional cooking, the ingredient is relatively unknown outside of Europe.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
