So, what is monoazo?
Monoazo is a type of synthetic food coloring commonly used to add bright and bold colors to food products. This additive is created by chemically bonding a single nitrogen group with an azo compound, resulting in a stable and water-soluble dye. Monoazo dyes can be found in a wide range of foods and beverages, from candies and cakes to sports drinks and sodas. Despite being approved by regulatory agencies for use in food, some studies have linked monoazo dyes to potential health risks, including hyperactivity in children and allergic reactions in some individuals.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
