So, what is glutamic?
Glutamic acid is a non-essential amino acid that plays a crucial role in the human body as a neurotransmitter and in the metabolism of carbohydrates. Glutamic acid is commonly found in foods such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. It has a unique umami taste, which enhances the savory flavor of food. The sodium salt of glutamic acid, monosodium glutamate (MSG), is often used as a flavor enhancer in processed foods. However, excessive intake of glutamic acid and MSG may cause adverse effects in some individuals, such as headaches and nausea.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
