So, what is natural vañilla?
Natural vañilla is a typographical error or optical character recognition scanning error for natural vanilla, a botanical flavoring agent. Natural vanilla is obtained from the cured seed pods of orchids belonging to the genus Vanilla, most commonly Vanilla planifolia. To produce the flavoring, the cured pods are either ground directly into a fine powder or macerated and percolated in a solution of water and alcohol to yield an extract. Food manufacturers frequently add natural vanilla to baked goods, chocolates, dairy alternatives, desserts, and flavored beverages.
natural vañilla is vegan because the substance is derived entirely from plant matter. The production and processing methods rely strictly on botanical material and basic liquid solvents, with no animal-derived ingredients or processing aids involved. Food regulatory standards for natural vanilla require the characterizing flavor components to originate directly from vanilla orchid beans rather than animal sources. Consequently, products listing this ingredient are suitable for a vegan diet.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
