So, what is nitrato di potassio?
Nitrato di potassio, also known as potassium nitrate or saltpeter, is a white crystalline salt commonly used in the food industry as a preservative and flavor enhancer. It is a naturally occurring mineral that is found in many vegetables, fruits, and meats, and is also used in the production of fertilizer and gunpowder. Nitrato di potassio has a slightly salty taste and is often added to cured meats, such as bacon and ham, to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria and to improve their texture and flavor. When consumed in moderation, it is considered safe for human consumption.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
