So, what is nitrito sódico?
Nitrito sódico, also known as sodium nitrite, is a chemical compound commonly used as a food preservative and coloring agent. It has a slightly salty taste and is often used in cured meats, such as bacon, ham, and hot dogs, to inhibit bacterial growth and prevent spoilage. Nitrito sódico also gives these meats their characteristic pink color and enhances their flavor. However, excessive consumption of foods containing nitrito sódico has been linked to health concerns, including an increased risk of cancer and heart disease, so it is important to use it in moderation.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
