So, what is palm and palm kernel?
Palm and palm kernel are two distinct but closely related ingredients derived from the fruit of the oil palm tree. Palm oil is extracted from the fleshy mesocarp of the fruit, while palm kernel oil is obtained from the kernel or seed within the fruit. Both oils are highly versatile and widely used in cooking, baking, and food processing, as well as in the production of various cosmetic and personal care products. However, concerns have been raised about the environmental impact of palm oil production, including deforestation, habitat destruction, and biodiversity loss. To address these issues, sustainable palm oil practices have been implemented, which aim to minimize the negative impact of palm oil cultivation on the environment and local communities.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
