So, what is palmuöljy?
Palmuöljy, also known as palm oil, is a versatile food ingredient derived from the fruit of oil palm trees. It is commonly used in a variety of food products, such as baked goods, snack foods, and margarine. Palmuöljy is a rich source of vitamin E and is free from trans fats. It has a creamy texture and a neutral flavor that allows it to blend seamlessly with other ingredients. However, there is ongoing debate about the sustainability of palmuöljy production, as it has been linked to deforestation and habitat destruction for endangered species such as orangutans.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
