So, what is pijnboompit?
Pine nuts, also known as "pijnboompitten" in Dutch, are small, elongated ivory-colored seeds harvested from pine cones. They have a delicate, buttery flavor and a slightly crunchy texture that makes them a versatile ingredient in various dishes. Pine nuts are a great source of healthy fats, protein, and fiber, as well as vitamins and minerals like vitamin E, magnesium, and zinc. They are commonly used in Mediterranean cuisine to add a nutty flavor to salads, pastas, and sauces, or as a topping for baked goods like cakes and cookies.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
