So, what is polyethylenglykol?
Polyethylene glycol (PEG) is a synthetic, water-soluble polymer that has many applications in the food industry. As an ingredient, PEG is used as a viscosity modifier, emulsifier, and stabilizer. It is often added to processed foods to improve their texture, appearance, and shelf life. PEG can also act as a carrier for other ingredients, helping to ensure their even distribution throughout a product. While generally considered safe for consumption in small amounts, some people may experience allergic reactions or digestive issues when consuming products containing PEG.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
