So, what is polyglycerol?
Polyglycerol is a versatile food ingredient that is commonly used as an emulsifier, a substance that helps blend together two or more immiscible substances, such as oil and water. It is made up of multiple glycerol molecules linked together by ester bonds. Polyglycerol can be derived from plant or animal sources, and is often used in the production of baked goods, dairy products, and confectionery items. It is highly valued by food manufacturers because it is effective at improving texture and stability, while also being low in calories and easy to use.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
