So, what is potassium sorbate?
Potassium sorbate is a chemical compound commonly used as a food preservative to prevent the growth of mold, yeast, and fungi. It is a white, odorless, and tasteless powder that is soluble in water. Potassium sorbate is often added to food products such as cheese, baked goods, dried fruits, and wine to extend their shelf life and maintain their freshness. It is a safe and effective preservative that has been approved by the FDA for use in food products. However, excessive consumption of potassium sorbate may cause skin irritation or allergic reactions in some individuals.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
