So, what is propylparabene?
Propylparabene, also known as propylparaben or E216, is a food preservative commonly used to extend the shelf life of products. It is a white crystalline powder with a slightly bitter taste and odorless. Propylparabene is a synthetic compound derived from para-hydroxybenzoic acid and is used in a wide range of processed foods, beverages, and cosmetics. Despite some controversy around its safety, propylparabene is approved by regulatory agencies around the world, including the FDA in the United States, as a safe food additive in small amounts. However, some individuals may be sensitive to propylparabene and experience allergic reactions.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
