So, what is red meat?
Red meat refers to meat that comes from mammals, such as beef, pork, and lamb. It is called "red meat" due to its dark red color when raw, which is a result of the presence of a protein called myoglobin. Red meat is a rich source of essential nutrients such as iron, zinc, and vitamin B12, which are important for maintaining good health. However, excessive consumption of red meat has been linked to an increased risk of heart disease, cancer, and other health problems. Therefore, it is recommended to consume red meat in moderation and to choose leaner cuts whenever possible.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
