So, what is pristane?
Pristane is a naturally occurring hydrocarbon that can be found in small quantities in various foods such as fish, meat, and vegetable oils. It is commonly used as a reference substance for scientific studies related to immune response and inflammation. Pristane has been shown to have immunomodulatory effects on the body, and may play a role in the development of autoimmune diseases. While pristane is generally considered safe in small amounts, excessive exposure may cause toxicity and other adverse health effects. As such, pristane is typically used in laboratory settings or as a research tool rather than a food ingredient.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
