So, what is sodium stearate?
Sodium stearate is a white, odorless, and waxy substance that is derived from stearic acid, a type of fatty acid found in many animal and vegetable fats. It is commonly used as an emulsifier and a surfactant in various cosmetic and personal care products, such as soaps, shampoos, and toothpaste. Sodium stearate helps to bind ingredients together and create a smooth, creamy texture. It also has cleansing properties that help to remove dirt and oil from the skin and hair. In addition, sodium stearate can be used as a lubricant in the production of pills and tablets.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
