So, what is sodium thiosulfate?
Sodium thiosulfate is a crystalline white powder with a molecular formula of Na2S2O3. It is commonly used as a food preservative, as it helps prevent discoloration and oxidation of fruits and vegetables. Sodium thiosulfate is also used in the photography industry to fix photographic images and as a component in certain medications used to treat cyanide poisoning. Additionally, it has industrial uses, such as in gold and silver extraction, as well as water treatment processes. Despite its many applications, sodium thiosulfate should be handled with care, as it can cause irritation and harm to the eyes, skin, and respiratory system if not handled properly.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
